Registering
There is no need to register to browse the gallery. However, if you want to add images, you'll need to register for an account. There is a registration link on the front page. Click and follow the instructions. You will need to supply a valid email address with which to register. At some point we hope to merge PaddleGuide wiki and gallery logins such that a single login will work for both parts of the site, but for now you need one for each. If you do register for both it may help to keep your username and password the same.
Adding Images
All images should be sized such that the longer side is no more than 900 pixels.
Registered Users
Once logged in as a registered user, you can add images to any gallery and edit details on your own images. On every gallery page there will be an 'edit' link towards the bottom. Clicking on this will bring up some further options on the right:
- 'add album' to create a new sub-album, under the current album.
- 'add items' to add new images to the current album.
Please have a look at the other items already in the gallery and try to follow existsing patterns and naming conventions where possible.
Others
Currently, you have to be registered to upload images (see above). If you wish, you can email images to 'gallery AT paddleguide.org'. Please include some details about the image.

Embedding Images
Other than one image for the info box at the top of the page, the idea is to have all the images in the gallery. People loke pictures and this way we can have as many or as few as we like for any given location. The easiest was to add an image from the gallery into a page is to use the Gallery2 Image Extension. Here are a few examples, but see the extension page for full more details.
<g2Image>Scotland/Borders/River_Tweed/Neidpath</g2Image>
This shows a specific image in the gallery. Note that, when displayed, images always provide a link to their parent gallery. The title from the gallery is displayed below the image.
<g2Image random>Scotland/Borders/River_Tweed/</g2Image>
In this case we give the location of a gallery rather than an image and the keyword 'random' - and this provides a random image from the specified gallery. Other options, such as setting position on the page and size are available, see the Gallery2 Image Extension for more details.
